horses, horses, horses, horses

I shot this while I was horsin' around (pun intended) at the Crazy Ranch this weekend, aka my Mom's house.  Starring Misty, the persnickety horse.  Enjoy!

Self Care Sunday

I'm feeling very good today, despite the fact it is a Sunday and I should be full of dread and worry about the upcoming week.  Why are you in a good mood you ask?  Well, I had a chance to stay at my mom's Crazy Ranch this weekend.  It is always a nice to getaway and being able to spend the time with my mom was extra needed.  In addition to my wonderful weekend I have some scheduled dinner dates with friends this week and I think that has really helped put me in  a positive mood.  I try to schedule activities in my week that I can look forward to otherwise I find that I am so much more likely to burn out.  Despite the wonderful mood I am still indulging in some self care tonight.  What's on the menu?  Wine, a good book, and a bubble bath. Awwwwwww

Hooray for Hollywood

Something I have been up to in the time I have been away, has been acting in and acting as a production assistant, or as my boyfriend calls it, "playing on your iPad in the corner," for some of his short films.  In my unbiased opinion, my boyfriend is incredibly talented, as are our friends who participate.  This particular short is my favorite, and also my defining role.  So please enjoy the silliness that is Millie's Garage Bingo!

I see you're back again

Hey Friends!

After a long hiatus with uncertain return, I have decided on a whim to revisit my old friend, Miss Della Street!!

I'd like to approach this return as a new beginning.  I see it as I am a little older, a little wiser, and as I am {eeeek} getting closer to thirty becoming a bit more introspective and more interested in my lifestyle and environment.  I'm thinking I would like the content to be more geared towards my current interests and we can all learn and grow together.

So cheers, pour a glass of Chardonnay and enjoy this Self Care Sunday with me!

{On the menu}
Hair Mask-Myriam K BB cream Hair Mask (from February's Oui Please box)
Face Mask-GlamGlow Super Mud
Ropiteau Chardonnay

We're going to rattle this ghost town

It has been so warm in LA lately that I've been turning my week-ends into little stay-cations.  There is nothing as fun as being a tourist in your own city, discovering new sights out of familiar places.  Give me a simple summer dress and a tank full of gas and exploring awaits.  This particular day was spent meandering about LACMA one of my favorite places in LA.

This house is falling apart

I generally live by very simple fashion advice.  I buy and wear what I like and when all else fails I always channel my inner french girl.  Lately, I've had so much going on that instead of retreating to a comforting neutral or black palette I instead retreat to what I feel most comfortable and classic, the trio of black, white and red.

DIY- Uses for olive oil

If you've read my last blog post about the honey, lemon face scrub you know that I am REALLY into DIY, especially with beauty products you can find in your pantry.  My latest obsession is olive oil!  You don't have to break the bank and buy a pricey brand, for my beauty uses I just by the cheap store brand and it really goes a long way. There are so many uses here are just a couple.:

Mix with sugar to create a lip scrub for smooth and moisturized lips.

I do so much to my hair, such as using heat products and coloring it, that I often find it damaged.  Applying a little bit of olive oil to the tips at night will leave it shiny and help prevent split ends by moisturizing the hair.

It can also be applied to your nails and cuticles and is a wonderful replacement for cuticle oil that leaves the skin moisturized and the nail shiny, it looks like you just had a beautiful manicure!

* Some other helpful uses not pictured are applying it before shaving to prevent razor burn as well using it to help you remove eye make-up.  It is basically a wonderful go to product.

DIY Lemon and Honey Face Cleanser

As I've mentioned before, I've really been getting into DIY projects, which has recently explanded to my beauty regime as well.  I love the item of use natural ingredients on my skin rather than strange chemicals and such.  While I was perusing pinterest I came accross this wonderfully simply face cleanser that just involves a half a lemon and a couple of drops of honey, rub, rub, rub, let sit for a couple of minutes, rinse and voila, a beautifully fresh face.  Although, as I have learned from experience, be very carefully not to squeeze the lemon as you are rubbing it on your face, it will almost always go in your eyes.

We're hanging by our shoestrings

It has been so warm lately in the LA area I have found I'm drawn to nautical looks, I guess I'm subconsciously wishing I was sailing the high seas.  Sailing or not, I feel very lucky indeed to have been able to spend some leisurely days with very fun people.

I'm a fireball

So if you have seen some of my outfit posts you can probably deduce I am a sucker for a super cute print dress.  This one is no exception, it is a robot print with a peter pan collar and pyramid buttons.  Umm....yes please!  I love the whimsy of the dress and why not wear clothes that will be instant conversation starters...? I was lucky enough to be able to wear this dress out on the town with one of my nearest and dearest.  Our date included empanadas from the always delicious Nonna's Empanadas and some shopping at The Grove, just another wonderful Wednesday.

I was born to

I absolutely love meandering about on gorgeous days, especially with good friends.  Today I was lucky enough to meander a bit while waiting for a friend before scooting off for a delicious meal at Royal/T.  The saddest news of all is that Royal/T will be closing July 22nd, so make sure you get in one last time before they do.  On a lighter note the beautiful day gave me a perfect excuse for wearing this super cute sundress gifted to be by a dear friend who recently returned from a trip to Israel.  Knowing that such a cute dress came from there makes me want to visit all the more.

I see you're back again....

Hello my friends, it has been quite awhile, but I am back with a vengence!  I have been really into crafting and home improvements lately and my latest project is just too cool not to share.  I have a small collection of vintage eyeglasses that have until recently been littering my bookshelves, but today I mounted them in shadow boxes and I could not be more pleased with the results.  Please let me know if you have any fun projects going on!

that's a frosty way to speak

I'm still adjusting to my new hair color but it isn't as jarring as it used to be.  Occasionally I will come accross a picture with my blonde hair and I'll have a tinge of nostalgia, who knows how long this change will hold up.  Anyways, I happened upon a fabulous location for blog pictures.  It is so peaceful and for the most part empty, leaving me to make a fool out of myself undisturbed.

It's good to be in love

Just a quick post, trying to stay up on the game.  I was able to spend some time at my undergrad alma mater today, Chapman University.  It is actually where I met my boyfriend.  Thinking back at my time there, I had such a wonderful experience, I loved my classes, I met some wonderful people and the professors were amazing.  Walking around there makes me feel so nostalgic but it was nice to have a little stroll about.  It was especially nice to walk through the art building where I held a job in the photo lab before and between classes and where I spent quite a bit of time working on projects and such and my junior and senior art shows.  Thinking back it is moments like those that I will always cherish.  Panther Pride.

Fabulous Finds Friday

I am back!  I have yet again allowed my blog to fall into disrepair as I have been battling exhaustion from the holidays and returning back to reality.  What better way to return than with some fabulous finds!

My find is a local favorite of mine...dipped nails, which you might have read about here.

I happen to go quite often so I decided to share a collage of sorts of my fancy nails c/o dipped.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

Happy Holidays!  I have returned from my zone of holiday frenzy to post another day.  I am so thankful that this holiday season I am able to spend it with some very special people and I am even more thankful to have the aforementioned special people in my life.  The only tragedy to speak of is the weather and my ill prepared packing.  I packed a bag of a couple outfits as I am hustling about from place to place and packed clothes for colder climates as it was pretty chilly last week but the weather miraculously warmed up quite a bit Christmas day, definitely making this otherwise appropriately comfy sweater very uncomfortable to wear, even with a skirt and bare legs.  I suppose if this is all I have to complain about I should consider myself lucky.  Wishing you lots of love and cheer!
