decisions, decisions

So I kept telling myself that today I needed to do an outfit post but instead I spent my time ohhing and ahhing at the Dear Creatures website.  So since this is how I chose to waste my time away I decided to share it with you.  These pieces are from their Spring '11 collection so they are a bit belated but still beautiful and fabulous. Enjoy!

ladies of leisure

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of spending the day with a dear friend.  Our adventures began at the OC Fair Food Truck Round-Up that occurs every Thursday at the said location between the hours of 11 and 2.  It was everything I had hoped for and more.  And it is always nice to enjoy a Food Truck Round-Up with someone who doesn't judge me and my obsession with food and trying basically everything, a rather rare quality.  Anyways so our first stop was at the Dos Chinos truck, specializing in Asian Mexican Fusion, and it was TO DIE FOR.  We tried the:
 Hollywood Chicken Taco
Dos Chinos Carne Asada Burrito
and the Dos Chinos Fries with clarified garlic butter and cojita cheese.

Next we ventured on to the Louks Truck, specializing in gourmet Greek to go.
We of course tried the Strawberry Louks, which I didn't really love but my friend did, and the...

Veg Falafel Gyro.

And our last stop was the Bakery Truck for a cupcake that we said we would save for later but that didn't really happen.
PB&J and Red Velvet cupcakes.  I had the PB&J and it was amazing.  The best peanut butter cake I've ever had and I am a fiend for peanut butter anything.  However the red velvet was a tad disappointing.
So after we were sufficiently stuffed we partook in some good ol' fashion candle making at Pure Light Studios at the Irvine Spectrum.

But candle making is no joke folks.  It requires lots of planning, which scent do you want? do you want to put any cha chas in it? what color wax should you chunk up in it?  What size? What shape?  The options are endless.  A girl can go mad trying to decide.

Fabulous Finds Friday

I am totally smitten over this wonderful product by Benefit.  I actually just purchased it today but I can just tell it is true love.  My intent was to purchase some High Beam, also a fabulous find, to give as part of a gift and the sales girl told me about the amazing tints.  I purchased the Posie Tint, a pink, for the gift and the Cha Cha Tint, a mango, for myself.  Ok so you are probably just wondering at this point what the hell the product actually is...it is a lip AND cheek tint.  AND, it stays on all day.  It is a true story, I put in on after I purchased it and it is a great color and did last.  I also love that you can use it for both your lips and cheeks and this way you don't have to worry about your lip shade not matching your blush and you end up looking like a clown, crisis averted.  Oh Benefit why are you so good to me?

I love the television show Pushing Daisies.  Unfortunately it meet its demise and it leaves us with two wonderful seasons.  However lucky for those of us with Netflix it is an instant watch option or of course you can have it mailed to you.  I highly recommend this show if you like the movie Amelie.  It is created in the same vein of fantastical realism and it is so visually captivating with witty dialogue to boot.  Watching episodes of Pushing Daisies is one of my favorite indulgences.  Caution: continuous watching of this program will cause pie cravings.

your eyes as my candles

...I've waited and waited for someone to take it.
Don't fight it, don't bother an inch for another.
Don't listen, don't hear them, they're in this together.
I've learned well, now hear me, there's much to be fearing.
I'm used to your absence, your faceless distraction.
I've painted your problems but found them attractive.
Now I've been leaning towards a life far more caring,
thrown back through the dark with your eyes as my candles...

the summer is coming...i'll be waiting right here...

This week-end has been rather low key for me.  Filled with the usually grocery shopping, cleaning etc. to prepare myself for the upcoming week.  Today was basically just another Sunday but sometimes just another Sunday can be a great day indeed when the weather is nice.  Today between the shopping and the cleaning I was able to take a walk to some neighborhood thrift stores and look around and later found a couple of moments to lounge around the backyard with the pero negro and David.  If only I can find a moment to sneak in an episode of Perry Mason...

Simple Pleasures

I'm a rather simple girl.  Just give me a super cute party dress and a pair of fabulous, but comfortable heels and I will be happy as clam.  There is nothing like prancing about in a dress that just makes you feel good.  The kind of dress you can listen to Miike Snow's Black and Blue and do some twisting and twirling in.  I must confess I am rather an addict when it comes to party dresses.  I do not attend many parties in which a dress would be appropriate but for some reason I have collected more than my fair share of them over the years and they are always my weakness.  God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change...

Fabulous Finds Friday

Benefit's High Beam is amazing!  It self proclaims itself to be supermodel in a bottle and I agree.  You just add little dabs to places like your check bones, between your nose and top lip, chin, middle of forehead and nose and blend and you will always look like you have the best lighting even in the worst lighting.  It is soft, subtle and a must have in any cosmetics case.

Seriously tasty stuff here.  It is actually what I am going to have for dinner tonight along with a veggie stir fry.    These soy riblets are an excellent source of protein, less calories and I personally think they taste better than the real thing, however a major BBQ fan may beg to differ.  You can find them in the frozen aisle of most any supermarket and it only takes a couple minutes to heat them by microwave.  Perchance you can eat them whilst looking like a supermodel after an application of Benefit's High Beam...?

somewhere between moments

Just thought I would share some of my favorite photographs from my favorite photographer Gregory Crewdson.  These photographs are from his amazing series entitled Twilight.  Twilight illuminates the shadow of the Suburbs in a dark but beautiful way.  Crewdson is the son of a Freudian analyst which I feel adds to the intrigue of the images and I find myself so mesmerized by them.  The scary part of the whole thing is, that these pictures are oddly relatable.
